About South Burnett CTC Inc (CTC)

South Burnett CTC Inc (CTC) manages Malcolm's Youth Hostel, providing immediate supported accommodation for up to six young people aged 16 to 25 years old who are homeless. Our aim is to work intensively with these individuals to help them gain safe and secure accommodation upon exiting the program. Each young person has an individual case plan tailored to their circumstances and goals.

Malcolm's Youth Hostel is funded to provide a high level of supervision and support to its clients under a Service Agreement through the Department of Housing's Specialist Homelessness Service. Our dedicated team of Youth Workers play a crucial role in assisting each young person to build their life skills and meet their identified goals by leaving emergency accommodation into safe, stable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Youth Workers are responsible for:

  • Engaging with and supporting clients experiencing homelessness in Malcolm's Youth Hostel
  • Assisting each young person in building their life skills and meeting their identified goals
  • Processing homelessness enquiries and completing associated database entry and paperwork for those clients

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, or Human Services or similar
  • Minimum requirement Certificate IV in Community Services, Youth Work, etc
  • Two years or more of related industry experience engaging with and supporting clients experiencing homelessness

Additionally, the successful candidate must be available for shifts during the day, night (including sleepovers), weekends, and public holidays due to the 24/7 roster.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this position is a Crisis Accommodation Employee Level 1 casual rate of $45.00 per hour.
