Foster and Kinship Care Practitioner

  • Recruit, train, assess and support carers across the South Burnett who care for children and young people under Child Protection Orders
  • Engage with and support Indigenous and non-Indigenous foster and kinship carers to provide a safe, happy and stable placement for children/young people who may have complex needs and trauma based behavioural issues
  • Prepare initial, renewal and provisional carer assessments

As a member of our team, you will work closely with carers to provide the support and training they need to provide safe and loving homes for children and young people. Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about supporting carers and improving the lives of children and young people in care. You should have industry experience in Child Protection, Human Services or other relevant experience which demonstrates the ability to engage with and support Indigenous and non-Indigenous foster and kinship carers to provide a safe, happy and stable placement for children/young people who may have complex needs and trauma based behavioural issues.

  • Industry experience in Child Protection, Human Services or other relevant experience
  • An understanding of the Child Protection Act and related policy, legislation and relevant Industry Standards
  • Relevant qualifications or the desire to gain qualifications in a supportive environment

You should be a compassionate and empathetic individual, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be committed to providing quality care to children and young people in need.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this position is Level 3 ($34.04 per hour) or 4 ($39.26 per hour) of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award depending on qualifications and experience.
