Position Overview

The Youth Mentor plays a crucial role in delivering targeted and strengths-based interventions for young individuals at various stages of risk and system involvement. This position primarily focuses on the Staying on Track, Bail Response, and Kick Starter programs, providing both individual mentoring and structured program delivery.

As a Youth Mentor, you will engage with young people to build trust, assess their needs, and foster practical life skills that promote positive behaviour change and long-term wellbeing. You will work to enhance their connections to education, training, employment, family, culture, and community.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field, along with relevant experience in engaging with young people. You should have demonstrated skills in managing complex issues such as homelessness and mental health, and an ability to deliver culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and foster resilience in young people.
  • Experience in program development and case management.
  • Familiarity with compliance monitoring and reporting standards.

Your commitment to upholding cultural protocols and maintaining community support will be essential in this role. You will be expected to work independently while also being an effective member of our community services team.

Salary & Benefits

The position offers a salary in line with the Social and Community Services Worker level 2.1 $34.58 per hour or level 3.1 $38.65 per hour under the SCHADS Award, along with salary packaging options.
