With teams operating from various locations including Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon, we strive to make a significant impact in the South Burnett area.

Our Domestic and Family Violence Service is dedicated to supporting those affected by domestic violence, with a focus on safety, empowerment, and individual goal achievement through collaborative, client-centred approaches.

Position Overview

The Domestic and Family Violence Child Witness Counsellor will play a key role in providing individual and group counselling and therapeutic support to children who have experienced domestic and family violence. This position requires the use of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and child-centred practises in safe environments, including but not limited to CTC Offices and formal educational settings.

In addition, the role will involve providing support to individuals impacted by domestic and family violence, ensuring a flexible response to service demands.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong background in counselling or social work, particularly in high-risk domestic violence situations.

  • Minimum 3-year degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with complex client issues, including domestic violence, substance misuse, and mental health.
  • Proven ability to engage with hard-to-reach young people and deliver culturally appropriate support.
  • Strong time management skills and IT competency for maintaining client documentation.

The ideal candidate will also possess a Queensland Open Driver’s Licence, First Aid and CPR certificates, and the ability to uphold professional boundaries while ensuring confidentiality and privacy for all stakeholders.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) at Social and Community Services Worker Level 4 ($44.58 per hour), in addition to salary packaging options.
