South Burnett CTC Inc is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to providing support to individuals from diverse backgrounds across various services, including Foster Care, Residential Care, Youth & Family Services, Domestic and Family Violence Services, and Disability Services. We operate throughout the South Burnett region with teams based in Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon.
The Partners in Foster Care (PIFC) program specifically focuses on recruiting, training, and supporting foster carers for children and young people under Child Protection Orders, catering to a range of needs from moderate to complex support requirements.
Position Overview
As a Family and Youth Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting young individuals and families navigating the foster care system. Your responsibilities will include working closely with caseworkers to identify specific needs, advocating for the best interests of young people, and providing assistance in various settings, including community activities and foster family homes. Your support will encompass academic help, emotional regulation, conflict management, and facilitating enriching experiences.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of relevant qualifications and experience, along with a passion for supporting young people and families.
- Qualifications in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a related field (or a willingness to obtain).
- Experience in Child Protection or Human Services, demonstrating effective client engagement.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and an understanding of trauma-informed care.
- Availability for flexible shift work, including overnight and weekend hours.
You will be required to hold a Queensland Open Driver’s Licence, First Aid and CPR certifications (or the ability to obtain them), and a personal mobile phone for work-related communication. A Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check are also mandatory.
Salary & Benefits
The position is casual shift work with an hourly wage of $48.31 (Level 3.1 under the SCHADS Award), plus opportunities for salary packaging. You will receive support and supervision from management, with performance reviews conducted within the initial probation period and annually thereafter.
