South Burnett CTC Inc is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to providing support to disadvantaged individuals across various backgrounds and ages. Our services include Foster Care, Residential Care, Youth & Family Services, Domestic and Family Violence Services, Disability Services, and more. With a strong presence in the South Burnett area, our teams operate from Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon.

Our Staying on Track program aims to reduce youth reoffending and ensure successful community reintegration for young individuals following detention. By fostering mentoring relationships, promoting educational engagement, and offering practical family support, we strive to create positive life choices and resilience among our youth.

Position Overview

The Youth Mentor position is a full-time role within the Staying on Track program, based in Murgon. Reporting to the Connections Team Leader, the mentor will establish strong connections with young people and their families, facilitating a supportive environment for reintegration.

Candidate Profile

You will play an important role in reducing youth reoffending and helping young individuals' reintegration into society after detention. In this role, you will build constructive relationships with young people and their families, provide guidance, support, and resources to foster educational engagement and personal development.

You will work closely with different stakeholders, ensuring that the support given is holistic, culturally responsive, and effective in meeting the different needs of youth.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to community service and a passion for working with young people. You should demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field.
  • Experience in engaging young people and delivering culturally appropriate support.
  • Strong understanding of personal and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work with families, community members, and service providers.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

Salary & Benefits

The position offers a salary in line with the Social and Community Services Worker level 2.1 $34.58 per hour or level 3.1 $38.65 per hour under the SCHADS Award, along with salary packaging options.
