Our services encompass Foster Care, Residential Care, Youth & Family Services, Domestic and Family Violence Services, Disability Services, and our Gumnut Place Social Enterprise. Our Next Step Plus and Extended Post Care Support programs provide essential support to young individuals transitioning from Child Safety care, aiming to equip them with the skills and connections necessary for independent living and active societal participation.

Position Overview

The Youth Support Worker will play a vital role in engaging and supporting young people as they transition to independence. Working collaboratively with a growing team, you will assist in supporting the development and implementation of transition to independence transition plans, financial goals, and personalised support strategies.

This position requires active participation in mentoring and guidance from the Team Leader and fellow Youth Workers. The role involves applying established procedures while exercising limited initiative within defined guidelines to achieve clearly defined outcomes.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a dedicated individual who possesses a genuine passion for supporting young people. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Certificate in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field (desirable).
  • Current Queensland Driver’s Licence.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Bronze Medallion Certificates or willingness to obtain them.
  • Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Strong time management skills and IT competency for accurate record-keeping.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet client needs, including availability for occasional out-of-hours work.

Additionally, candidates should exhibit cultural awareness, the ability to respond sensitively to diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to upholding the principles outlined in CTC’s Cultural Working Document.

Salary & Benefits

The position is full-time (76 hours per fortnight) under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, with a base hourly rate of $33.41 plus salary packaging options. The role offers opportunities for professional development and a supportive work environment focused on teamwork and collaboration.
