Youth Worker - Malcolm's Youth Hostel

Are you interested in working with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness? In this position, you will backfill shifts in the Youth Hostel, providing support to young people who are living in this accommodation, as well as provide mobile support to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across the South Burnett. We are looking for someone who is flexible enough to cover shifts in the hostel at times of staff absence and who is able to work days through the mobile support role. We will provide training and support.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of qualifications and experience in youth work or related fields. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and have the skills to engage effectively with vulnerable populations.

  • Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Human Services, or similar (minimum Certificate IV).
  • At least two years of experience in a related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to use trauma-informed practices in client engagement.
  • Open Queensland Driver’s License, First Aid and CPR.

Cultural awareness and the ability to respond sensitively to diverse community needs are essential. Candidates should be organised, capable of managing time effectively, and committed to maintaining accurate records and case notes.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers an attractive casual hourly rate of $46.69, in accordance with the SCHCADS Award, along with salary packaging options to enhance your take-home pay. You will also have access to professional development opportunities to support your career growth.
