South Burnett CTC Inc is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to supporting disadvantaged individuals across diverse backgrounds and ages. Our services include Foster Care, Residential Care, Youth & Family Services, Disability Services, and more, operating throughout the South Burnett area with teams based in Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon.
Our program, Partners in Foster Care, recruits, trains, and supports approved carers for children and young people under Child Protection Orders, ensuring they receive the necessary care and support tailored to their specific needs.
Position Overview
The Family & Youth Mentor will play a crucial role in supporting young people and families involved in the foster care system. Under the guidance of the Service Manager, you will work closely with case workers to identify and address specific needs for support. This position requires working in various settings, including community environments and foster family homes, to provide holistic support that enhances the well-being of children and families.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of relevant qualifications, experience, and personal attributes that align with the responsibilities of the role.
- Qualifications in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or related fields are desirable.
- Experience in Child Protection, Human Services, or similar fields.
- Knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld) and related policies.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including overnight, weekends and on public holidays.
- Current Queensland Open Driver’s License and ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and Bronze Medallion Certificates.
- Must possess a Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
The candidate should demonstrate cultural sensitivity, strong time management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A commitment to professional development and adherence to organizational policies and procedures is essential.
Salary & Benefits
The position offers a casual rate of $37.35 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHCADS) - Level 3. Additional benefits may be available through salary packaging options.
