South Burnett CTC Inc is a not-for-profit community organisation committed to providing support to disadvantaged individuals across various backgrounds and ages. Our services include foster care, residential care, youth and family services, domestic and family violence services, and disability services, operating throughout the South Burnett area with teams based in Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango, and Murgon.
Our Partners in Foster Care program focuses on recruiting, training, assessing, and supporting foster and kinship carers for children and young people under Child Protection Orders. We aim to ensure that every child in care receives the support and stability they need to thrive.
Position Overview
The Foster and Kinship Care Practitioner plays a crucial role in delivering emotional and practical assistance to foster and kinship carers. This position involves working closely with carers to ensure the safety and well-being of children in care, while adhering to the principles outlined in the Child Protection Act.
The role requires a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries, effective communication, and the ability to manage complex situations. The practitioner will also participate in the assessment and training of prospective and current carers, contributing to the overall goal of improving outcomes for children in out-of-home care.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for dedicated individuals who possess a strong understanding of child protection and have experience in human services or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in child protection or human services.
- Understanding of the Child Protection Act and relevant policies.
- Diploma or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or related field is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity in interactions with stakeholders.
- Current Queensland Driver License, First Aid/CPR certificates and Working with Children Blue Card.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, accountable, and committed to supporting the needs of children and their carers, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers an attractive salary of $43.08 per hour, according to Level 4 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHCADS). Additional benefits include salary packaging options of up to $15,900 for eligible living expenses, plus up to $2,649 for meals and entertainment, and opportunities for professional development.
